چکیده
The authors present an epizootiological analysis of viral haemorrhagic disease of rabbits in Poland. The biological, physical and chemical properties of virus isolates used for the production and control of the vaccine 'Cunivac' (produced in Poland) are also presented. The safety and efficacy of this vaccine are demonstrated. Laboratory experiments and large-scale field observations yielded satisfactory results.

A new variant of the viral haemorrhagic disease of rabbits virus.
A new variant of viral haemorrhagic disease of rabbits (VHD) virus, recently detected in Poland and called Blaszki (BLA), gives positive results in enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) and exhibits viral protein of 60 kilodaltons (VP 60), as detected by Western blot analysis. This BLA variant of VHD virus has caused high morbidity and mortality in rabbits, as have other reported variants w...
متن کاملIncidence, epizootiology and control of viral haemorrhagic disease of rabbits and the European brown hare syndrome in Germany.
Viral haemorrhagic disease (VHD) among domestic and wild rabbits and European brown hares have been observed in most of the Federal states of Germany. Acute outbreaks of viral haemorrhagic disease are most prevalent in small, fancy domestic rabbitries, with mortality varying between 5 and 90%, while mostly sporadic losses due to VHD are seen among wild rabbits. In hares, accumulated losses from...
متن کاملPathogenicity and immunogenicity of native and mutant strains of Pasteurella multocida, the causative agents of haemorrhagic septicaemia
Haemorrhagic septicaemia (HS) is a fatal systemic disease of cattle and buffaloes. Some control isachieved with administration of alum-precipitated or oil-adjuvanted killed whole-cell vaccines injectedsubcutaneously. These vaccines, however, provide only short-term immunity and for effective use, theyshould be administered annually. We constructed an aroA attenuated derivative of a Pasteurella ...
متن کاملEffects of vaccination against viral haemorrhagic disease and myxomatosis on long-term mortality rates of European wild rabbits.
The effects of vaccination against myxomatosis and viral haemorrhagic disease (VHD) on long-term mortality rates in European rabbits (Oryctolagus cuniculus) were studied from 1993 to 1996 by radiotracking a free-living population of wild rabbits. During the three months after immunisation, unvaccinated young rabbits weighing between 180 and 600 g were 13.6 times more likely to die than vaccinat...
متن کاملEpidemiology and current situation of viral haemorrhagic disease of rabbits and the European brown hare syndrome in Italy.
Rabbit production is of considerable economic importance in Italy. In the last thirty years, meat production has risen and the number of intensive husbandry establishments has grown. The major region of production (about 60%) lies in the northern part of the country. In addition, approximately one million live animals and more than 14,000 tons of meat are imported yearly. More than 150,000 hare...
